Where the Relationship is the work

Meet Your Therapist:

Hey! I'm Ronny Smith, Jr., a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LA#18041) and the founder of Conscious Alliance Counseling.

I hold a Master's in Social Work from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor's in Psychology from University of Louisiana Monroe. Since 2021,

Throughout my experience learning to be a therapist, I learned that I love working with neurodiverse adults who struggle with the shame and confusion that can come with a late diagnosis.

As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD later in life, I have a real soft spot for clients who've spent their lives feeling like they can’t quite catch up to everyone else. You won't get stiff, clinical energy from me. I believe in showing up honest, relaxed, and human. I use a humanistic approach to help my clients see the humanity in their neurodivergence. To help remove the shame and stigma that ADHD/Autism diagnoses can create. For better words, there is nothing that needs to be ‘fixed’ about you. But we can absolutely improve or accommodate for the unique ways that ADHD, Autism, or other aspects of neurodivergent differences impact us.

Some of our best breakthroughs might happen through laughter just as much as through hard conversations. And believe me, there may be plenty hard conversations, but together we can get through them.

If that sounds like the kind of therapy and inner work you've been looking for, I'd love to meet with you.

Currently, my practice is dedicated to helping ADHD and Autistic adolescents and adults. I also identify as a queer therapist and work with LGBTQIA+ / BIPOC identities and communities.

"In the midst of all the chaos swirling through your brain, all the disorganization and impulsiveness, the condition also seems to trigger a certain kind of creativity."
